PSILOCYBIN, PSYCHEDELIC THERAPY, AND MUSHROOM TRIPS

… a motion center is talking directly to your visual cortex, which could allow you to see things you’re feeling. It could result in hallucinations. Those new connections may […] manifest as new perspectives, new ideas, new means, new metaphors. But the point is that by temporarily disrupting the order of the brain, a new order forms. And that order may have incredible value at either the level of mental health and psychology or the level of creativity.

- Michael Pollan

The term “psychedelic” was invented by Humprey Osmond in a letter correspondence with Aldous Huxley. It is derived from two Greek words: ψυχή psychḗ (soul, mind) and δηλείν dēleín (to manifest). The literal meaning of the word psychedelic is mind-manifesting or soul-manifesting. The name itself implies that psychedelics can provide access to the depths of human mind and soul.

Psychedelic compounds such as LSD, DMT, mescaline, and psilocybin are from a family of powerful mind-altering substances. Some of them occur naturally, like psilocybin and mescaline, and some of them extracted from natural sources or created in the laboratory. These substances produce different effects when ingested, but they all provide powerful shifts in the human perception of reality: increased sensory perceptions, visual and audial distortions, euphoria, synesthesia, and a range of other effects. Most importantly a common theme of reports about the psychedelic experience is that they elicit grand realizations and revelations about the nature of human and conscious experience.

Psilocybin is one of the classic psychedelics, along with mescaline and DMT, that have been around for thousands of years. It occurs naturally in the mushrooms of the psilocybe genus and has been used in ritual, religious and medicinal ceremonies by humans before civilization was established. We have chosen psilocybin because it’s natural, well researched, tried, and safe means to psychedelic transformation.

Psilocybin is one of the most used and common psychedelic substances, it’s  well researched and known. At Evolution Retreats we provide the whole care package that necessary for an ideal psychedelic experience: medical clearance, psychological profiling, a preparation/integration workbook and immediate guidance within the psychedelic space. Psilocybin can be unsafe when it’s misused or abused. However, in our practice we established the ultimate safety protocol that allows for a safe and smooth experience. Our methods are based on the most recent scientific publications in the fields of psychedelics, neurochemistry, and psychotherapy. We have our own mycological laboratory with genetically stabilized mushroom strains to ensure consistent quality of our medicine. Psilocybin is also safe physically as you cannot overdose and would only strain a extremely weak or sick body.

Yes. Although SSRI medication (escitalopram, fluoxetine, paroxetine, etc.) can interfere with psilocybin effects, our preparation schedule is adjustable and personalized, which allows you to combine other therapeutic measures you are engaged in with our practice.

To personalize and adjust your preparation/integration schedule we must know you well. Psychedelic transformation is personal, so a certain amount of information is required for us to be able to make your experience pleasant and effective. We guarantee complete privacy and non-disclosure and encourage you to be honest when filling out the application form.

It is in Jamaica, where we operate. Jamaican laws have no regulations about psilocybin or mushrooms of psilocybe genus whatsoever.

We do not endorse the concept of “bad trip.” Psychedelic experience can be challenging, that’s a fact. With an elaborate personalized preparation and integration routine,  the challenging aspects of it can be minimized, that’s also a fact. At Evolution Retreats, we have combined decades of experience to ensure you are given maximum support.

With our expertise and experience we can state that preparation and integration are as important as the experience itself. A key point of preparation is to pacify the mind and set it on a route of introspection and renewal. The purpose of integration is to capture insights from the psychedelic experience and implement them into the daily life. At Evolution Retreats we have a workbook designed specifically to achieve the key points mentioned above.

During your psilocybin ceremonies you can expect a perfectly curated and supported psychedelic experience. Our facilitators are among the best and most experienced in the field and will support your every need. Whether it is comfort, a therapeutic technique, or simply a cool towel, your facilitator will always provide the required assistance. At the beginning of the psilocybin ceremony, you will take part in a communal tea ceremony where psilocybin will be ingested in the form of a lovely lemon tea. Afterwards you will separate into your therapeutic group of three individuals for your journey. During the peak of the experience, you will lay down comfortably on a soft mattress and feel the warm, ocean-swept air of the Caribbean Sea, while listening to a specially curated playlist using our top-of-the-line noise-cancelling headphones. At the end of the psilocybin experience, you will reconvene with the group to experience the breathtaking, colorful Jamaican sunset over the horizon line of the sea!
